Role Overview

The CV Invasive Specialist II (CVIS II) performs advanced catheterization procedures with minimal supervision, ensuring patient safety and procedural success. They participate in room preparation, manage supplies, document hemodynamics, and assist with equipment operation and troubleshooting. The role involves providing patient education, emotional support, and fostering teamwork with physicians and staff. CVIS II may administer medications under supervision and apply hemostasis techniques post-procedure.

They are responsible for training staff, mentoring, and maintaining competence through ongoing education.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic and interventional procedures, including scrub, circulate, and monitor roles.
  • Develop expertise in supplies, application, and safety protocols, including x-ray safety.
  • Ensure thorough documentation and accurate data entry for procedures.
  • Assess patient status, respond to changes, and provide clinical support.
  • Train, mentor, and educate team members and staff in skills workshops.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Certification in BLS, PALS or ACLS (obtained within 3 months if new).
  • Required registration as RCIS, RCES, or equivalent; proficiency in complex procedures.
  • Experience in invasive cardiovascular or electrophysiology procedures preferred.
  • Strong skills in patient assessment, equipment troubleshooting, critical thinking, and teamwork.
Physical & Other Requirements
  • Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and physical ability to assist with patient transfers and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Compliance with state-specific certifications and ongoing education requirements.
