The role involves providing patient education, emotional support, and fostering teamwork with physicians and staff. CVIS II may administer medications under supervision and apply hemostasis techniques post-procedure.
They are responsible for training staff, mentoring, and maintaining competence through ongoing education.
- Perform diagnostic and interventional procedures, including scrub, circulate, and monitor roles.
- Develop expertise in supplies, application, and safety protocols, including x-ray safety.
- Ensure thorough documentation and accurate data entry for procedures.
- Assess patient status, respond to changes, and provide clinical support.
- Train, mentor, and educate team members and staff in skills workshops.
- Certification in BLS, PALS or ACLS (obtained within 3 months if new).
- Required registration as RCIS, RCES, or equivalent; proficiency in complex procedures.
- Experience in invasive cardiovascular or electrophysiology procedures preferred.
- Strong skills in patient assessment, equipment troubleshooting, critical thinking, and teamwork.
- Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and physical ability to assist with patient transfers and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Compliance with state-specific certifications and ongoing education requirements.
