The Head Cashier is responsible for leading front-end operations and ensuring exceptional customer service through effective cashier team management, adherence to company policies, and execution of daily cash handling procedures. This role sets the tone for the customer experience at the register and supports store leadership in training, scheduling, and supervising cashier staff.

Essential Functions:

• Greeting customers warmly and assist with inquiries or concerns.
• Have an awareness of store promotions and various advertisements, promote the Ace Rewards Program
• Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.
• Adhere to any Store Support Center program or promotion that may require implementation at the cash registers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve point-of-sales (POS) issues.
• Train, coach, and direct cashier staff to uphold service and operational standards.
• Ensure front-end associates follow all policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Perform cash pulls, change orders, and deposit in accordance with store policies.
• Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked front-end merchandise displays.
• Ensure returned merchandise is restored correctly and damaged items are labeled appropriately.
• Help answer associate radio pages and customer calls quickly, courteously and effectively
• Promote and process Ace Rewards sign‑ups and maintain related supplies.
• Handle customer complaints tactfully, escalating to management when necessary.
• Monitor shoplifting and take appropriate action per company policy.
• Conduct cashier meetings and assist in the training and onboarding of new associates.
• Assist with the cashier scheduling and provide feedback on staffing needs.
• Order and manage training materials, uniforms, and front-end supplies.
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Other Duties:

• Promote and process Ace Rewards sign‑ups and maintain related supplies.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.

Experience:

• Prior experience in cash handling and supervising associates in a retail environment.
• Strong commitment to customer service and operational excellence.
• Ability to lead, train, and motivate team members to drive performance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure.
• Proficiency in retail systems, electronic cash registers, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Skills:

• Ability to remain composed while managing multiple priorities and resolving customer issues.
• Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow.
