Job Overview

This position includes work direction, coordination and oversight of a specific crew(s) ranging from 2-8 employees or subcontractors. The role is responsible for overall safety, materials, reporting, customer relations, leadership, employee communication, and productivity measures. The foreman will manage a crew across various operations including trench & plow, aerial, drilling/bore, asphalt or conduit, and may include machine operation. Requires interfacing with customers and city inspectors, coordinating pre‑construction meetings, maintaining detailed safety and production records, producing as‑builds, and serving as a leader for all crews.

The ideal candidate is also a skilled excavation operator and assists with permits, crew/site safety, and locating utilities.

What You’ll Do
  • Shoveling, digging, handling and operating construction equipment.
  • Excavation operations including operating equipment and transportation of equipment if needed.
  • General oversight over work direction within a crew or a group of subcontractors.
  • Assisting in securing site, employees and safety.
  • General maintenance.
  • General utility installation/repair.
  • Assists with as‑builds and ensures attention to detail and high quality work.
  • May assist supervisor in administrative tasks relating to hiring and interviewing employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • To be 18 years of age or older.
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Valid state driver's license (cannot be provisional), including an acceptable driving record.
  • MUST have a CDL license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
  • May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, or be on‑call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
  • May include working nights and holidays as needed.
  • May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
Additional Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of work‑related experience pertaining to utility construction, telecommunications, or laborer‑related work.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high quality results.
  • Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing, and deal with problems involving different variables in varied situations with employees, customers and vendors.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area) and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals and process procedures; write information including reports; and speak effectively to customers, coworkers, vendors and the public.
