Drive assigned regular education and special needs student bus routes abiding by all federal, state, and district rules and regulations. Manage student conduct and ensure student and vehicle safety without direct supervision. Non‑CDL drivers will only drive smaller buses, containing 14 students or less.

Classified starting at Grade M, $22.11 per hour to start, depending on recent relevant experience. 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday. 9‑month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Eligible for benefits.

Transport, safely and expediently, students and other authorized personnel to and from home, between schools and on district‑sponsored trips. Responsible for con‑duction per‑trip inspections, observes safety regulations and policies; enforces student discipline on the bus; and performs other related duties.

• Safe and expedient transportation of students and other authorized personnel, including driving the bus route according to bus stop locations and time schedules (with permitted deviations for illness, emergency or other justified reasons).
• Drive bus route while communicating with transportation personnel, parents and school officials regarding student behavior and resolving disputes, and writing student misconduct forms when needed.
• Complete various forms and reports including field trip logs, attendance sheets, student ridership forms, weekly tracking report and vehicle log sheets (mileage book).
• Aid in the loading/unloading process of students needing assistance in boarding, including those with special needs, via stairs or lift mechanisms.
• Monitor student riders for any suspected child abuse, sexual harassment, bullying, bodily fluids cleanup and medical conditions (e.g., diabetic shock, seizures, respiratory conditions).
• Maintain continual training and a good understanding of working with special education and wheelchair students; collaborate with the paraprofessional to plan behavior management, emergency evacuation procedures and medical emergencies.
• Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections on the bus in accordance with the Colorado Code of Regulations and District guidelines, including checking oil, tires, fluid levels and overall condition, and notify the technician of any defect.
• Maintain cleanliness of the bus interior and exterior, keeping outside mirrors and driver’s windows clean.
• Communicate in person and on a two‑way radio for routine, urgent and emergency situations; report all unsafe route and bus stop conditions to the dispatcher/routers.
• Attend all meetings and training sessions, including all in‑services and student development training (in person or online), and First Aid/CPR classes required by the District.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 2 years.
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Pass a post‑offer, pre‑employment physical exam.
• Ability to work with students and students with special needs.
• Ability to appropriately manage student behavior and make quick decisions in stressful conditions.
• Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

• No experience required.
• Experience working with children and previous truck or bus driving experience preferred.
• Operating knowledge of various school buses/vehicles, handicap transportation equipment, two‑way radio, fire extinguisher, and emergency equipment required within two weeks after hire and licensing.

Must be 21 years of age and have held a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two (2) years. Must meet Colorado Department of Education and FMCSR Part 382 requirements as this position performs safety‑sensitive duties and will be part of the District’s random testing for drugs and alcohol. Must pass the Department of Transportation physical exam. Successful completion of the District Driver Training program.

First Aid and CPR certifications required within 90 days after hire.
