We’re seeking a professional and safety-focused CDL A Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for transporting Caterpillar engines and other oversized or heavy freight using company-owned trucks and trailers throughout Colorado and across North America when required.

As a CDL Driver, you’ll safely transport some of the largest diesel engines in the mining industry while ensuring every shipment arrives on time and in excellent condition. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing schedules and customer needs. You’ll work closely with management and shop personnel while representing Independent Rebuild Specialist with professionalism at every pickup and delivery.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in safe driving, equipment care, customer service, and delivering every load with the highest level of professionalism.

  • Safely operate company-owned Class A tractors and trailers while transporting Caterpillar engines, engine components, and other heavy cargo.
  • Transport freight throughout Colorado and across North America as required.
  • Secure, tarp, balance, and inspect all loads to ensure safe transportation.
  • Safely load and unload engines and heavy equipment using cranes, forklifts, and approved lifting equipment.
  • Complete pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections and report mechanical concerns immediately.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logbooks, trip reports, inspection reports, and required DOT documentation.
  • Manage bills of lading, proof of delivery, shipping paperwork, and customer documentation.
  • Coordinate daily with dispatch, management, customers, and shop personnel regarding pickups, deliveries, and schedule changes.
  • Maintain a high level of communication throughout each trip to provide shipment updates and address unexpected delays.
  • Adapt to changing schedules, delivery priorities, weather conditions, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional truck, trailer, and work environment.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance and routine inspections on assigned equipment.
  • Verify shipment condition during loading and unloading and document any damage with photographs and written reports.
  • Represent Independent Rebuild Specialist professionally at customer locations.
  • Work safely in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Be available for overnight travel and, when necessary, weekend or holiday deliveries to meet customer requirements.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card).
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one for international travel if required.
  • Minimum 22 years of age.
  • Minimum three years of safe commercial driving experience with no major moving violations.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with company drug and alcohol policies.
  • Heavy haul or oversized load experience.
  • Experience safely securing oversized or heavy freight.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience operating a Class 8 heavy-duty tractor.
  • Previous experience transporting heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
  • Experience with oversized load permits and route planning.
  • Experience operating flatbed trailers and tarping heavy equipment.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
