PART-TIME BOOKKEEPER & ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR

Location:

Brighton, Michigan - On-site

Schedule:

10-20 hours per week to start

Compensation: $24 - $30 per hour, depending on experience

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Administrative Coordinator to support several affiliated, growing businesses.

This is a hands-on position responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping using Quick Books Online, along with a variety of general administrative tasks. The position will begin at approximately 10-20 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours as our companies continue to grow.

The right candidate will be comfortable taking over established bookkeeping procedures while also suggesting practical improvements based on their experience. This position works directly with the owners and offers variety, flexibility, and the opportunity to become an important long-term member of a small-company team.

This is an on-site position at our office in Brighton, Michigan.

BOOKKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain bookkeeping records for multiple affiliated business entities using Quick Books Online
  • Prepare and send customer invoices
  • Monitor accounts receivable and perform occasional follow-up
  • Enter vendor bills and maintain accounts payable records
  • Prepare and schedule vendor payments for owner approval
  • Record and categorize bank and credit-card transactions
  • Assist with and perform month-end closing procedures
  • Process payroll using ADP
  • Prepare basic 30- and 60-day cash-flow projections
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records
  • Communicate with customers and vendors when necessary
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with purchasing and vendor coordination
  • Process a limited amount of incoming mail
  • Maintain organized electronic files and records
  • Assist with insurance applications, audits, renewals, and other paperwork
  • Order and maintain office supplies
  • Provide general administrative support to the owners and affiliated businesses
  • Help improve bookkeeping and office procedures when appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least one year of hands-on Quick Books Online experience
  • Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, transaction categorization, and account reconciliation
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial, employee, and business information
  • Ability to work independently after training while asking questions when appropriate
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to maintain a consistent weekly schedule
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two or more years of bookkeeping experience
  • Experience maintaining books for multiple businesses or legal entities
  • Experience with month-end closing procedures
  • Experience preparing basic cash-flow forecasts
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field

A degree is helpful but not required. Relevant hands-on bookkeeping and Quick Books Online experience may substitute for formal education.

SCHEDULE

This position will begin at approximately 10-20 hours per week. The schedule is somewhat flexible but must:

  • Fall within typical Monday-through-Friday business hours
  • Be worked on-site at our Brighton office
  • Follow a consistent, repeating schedule each week

There is potential for the position to grow into additional hours as the businesses expand.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • $24 - $30 per hour, depending on experience
  • Part-time hourly employee position
  • Flexible scheduling within normal business hours
  • Paid sick time provided in accordance with Michigan law
  • No health insurance or traditional paid-vacation benefits at this time
