CSA School District is a secondary ELA teacher position in Brighton, MI. Candidates must have a teacher certification and a Michigan endorsement for secondary education.

Charyl Stockwell Academy (CSA) District is a public school academy serving about 1,250 students from kindergarten through high school. Since opening in 1996, the district has earned the distinction of School of Excellence and ranks in the top 10% of all public schools in Michigan. The district focuses on high academic expectations, strong character, balanced mixed‑ability classrooms, and support for academically gifted students.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Language Arts teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching literature, writing, and language skills to middle school students. This individual will create a stimulating classroom environment, encourage student engagement and participation, and foster a love for reading and writing.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a diverse curriculum that includes literature, composition, grammar, and language usage while considering varied learning styles and needs.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Develop assessments and monitor student performance through tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance.
Cognitive Demands
  • Supervision of multiple students at once.
  • Establishing routines and procedures.
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
  • Creating and implementing instructional plans.
  • Participating in continuous professional development.
  • Exhibiting effective oral and written communication skills.
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Stand and walk frequently.
  • Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat.
  • Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year.
  • Withstand a moderate noise level.
  • Be able to perform first aid or CPR if necessary.
  • Assist or lift students, as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification or license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
  • Passion for literature and the ability to inspire students to develop their writing and analytical skills.
