Job Summary/Overview

The Production Supervisor provides daily leadership and oversight for production, assembly, and material‑handling operations. This role ensures safe, high‑quality, and efficient workflow while supporting customer commitments and maintaining the company's long‑standing reputation for excellence in material handling systems. Unified Industries is a full‑service material handling systems provider specializing in enclosed track aluminum cranes, ergonomic lift assists, torque tubes, pneumatic balancers, and industrial hoists, operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbus McKinnon.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily production and assembly work related to workstation cranes, enclosed track systems, lift assists, articulating arms, and custom ergonomic material‑handling solutions.
  • Assign work, set priorities, and coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor product quality, ensuring adherence to Unified’s engineering standards and customer specifications.
  • Ensure safe operation of tools, hoists, lift systems, and related equipment in alignment with Unified’s safety‑focused design philosophy.
  • Conduct daily start‑up meetings, reinforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company guidelines.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members to improve technical capability and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support production planning and resolve issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance ergonomics, workflow efficiency, and production throughput.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including production records, safety logs, non‑conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees, updating training materials, and evaluating performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, And Abilities
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate and guide team members in a fast‑paced, highly technical environment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical assembly, industrial equipment, material‑handling systems, or automation environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and assembly documentation.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices, particularly relating to crane systems, ergonomic lift devices, and fall‑protection equipment.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage daily operations with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Experienced in performance management and possesses the skills to coach, guide, and influence.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production supervision (industrial or material‑handling environment strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience leading hourly production teams.
