General Machine & Boring Inc is looking for a skilled Boring Mill Operator to join our team in Brighton, MI! This is a hands-on machining role where your precision and expertise will be at the heart of every project we deliver. Responsibilities:- Set up and operate horizontal or vertical boring mills to machine metal parts to tight tolerances
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining specifications
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and attachments for each job
- Monitor feeds, speeds, and cutting conditions to ensure optimal performance and part quality
- Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges
- Maintain and perform basic preventive maintenance on boring mill equipment
- Document production records and report any quality or equipment issues to supervision
- Proven experience operating horizontal mills in a machine shop environment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools and quality inspection techniques
- Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, and metal cutting principles
- Experience with manual and/or CNC boring mill operations preferred, Mastercam programming a plus.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs in a shop environment
