PAY RATE
$13.75 per hour (up to 600 hours or 120 days per season). Eligible part‑time employees will receive up to a $5.75 per hour retention bonus for all hours worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Additionally, eligible seasonal employees will receive a $0.60 per hour seasonal bonus for all hours worked. for details.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIESAs a seasonal employee the Huron‑Clinton Metroparks season begins April 17th and ends October 15th of each year. Work activities in this position primarily involve providing information to the public, preventing unsafe conditions, and ensuring park visitors adhere to rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Work primarily with the Police Department and assist the Park Operations Department.
- Direct traffic and enforce parking and traffic regulations on park property.
- Answer questions and give directions to park visitors.
- Advise park visitors of the park rules and regulations relating to park usage.
- Check for valid daily and annual vehicle permits.
- Patrol hike/bike trails and disc golf courses using a golf cart.
- Communicate emergencies to Park Police and/or Park Operations staff.
- Protect the public from emergency hazards.
- Assist in the maintenance of the area assigned.
- Public Safety Attendants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to get along with co‑workers, supervisors, and park visitors.
- Ability to operate a golf cart or other type of motorized vehicle.
- Ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
- Ability to communicate using telephone and/or radio equipment.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to traverse sandy, marshy, and wooded areas with even and uneven terrain.
- May be required to work 5 days per week including assigned special events, weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Will be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs.
- Ability to perform essential duties.
Requires the frequent use of a gas‑powered golf cart and two‑way radio. Less use of other motor vehicles, personal computer, and phone.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is routinely required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch and must have the ability to traverse sandy, marshy, or wooded areas with uneven terrain.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
