A well-established, community-focused business organization in the Brighton area is seeking a personable and motivated Membership & Engagement Coordinator to grow and strengthen its membership across several surrounding communities.
This is a relationship-driven role for someone who enjoys connecting with local business owners and community leaders. The successful candidate will independently recruit new members, oversee onboarding, strengthen ongoing engagement, and support membership retention.
Key Responsibilities Membership Growth- Identify, prospect, and recruit new members through outreach, networking, referrals, and community involvement.
- Develop outreach strategies and identify target businesses in partnership with organizational leadership.
- Represent the organization at ribbon cuttings, networking programs, community events, and local business gatherings.
- Maintain an active prospect pipeline and regularly report on outreach and membership results.
- Manage the new-member onboarding process and create a positive experience for each member during their first 90 days.
- Conduct member check-ins, identify at-risk accounts, and lead retention and win-back efforts.
- Coordinate membership renewals and related communications.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date membership records in the organization's CRM.
- Serve as a liaison for a professional women's networking group and its leadership.
- Assist with event planning, communication, and logistics.
- Lead and support member-focused volunteer and ambassador programs.
- Participate in organizational events where membership recruitment and engagement opportunities exist.
- At least 1-3 years of experience in sales, business development, account management, customer relations, nonprofit work, or association membership.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable initiating conversations with business owners and community leaders.
- Ability to work independently, manage a pipeline, and take ownership of results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with CRM or database systems and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Reliable transportation and availability for occasional early-morning, evening, or weekend events.
- Knowledge of the Greater Brighton and Livingston County business community is helpful but not required.
