Directors for the 2026 Extended School Year (ESY) - (2 positions)
Reports to:
Director of Special Services
Summary:
To provide students with special education needs Extended School Year (ESY) services per the requirements of the Individual Education Program (IEP).
- Organize the summer school curriculum for all grade levels in consultation with appropriate members on the staff and faculty.
- Acquire the services of teachers, speech-language pathologists, OTs, PTs and other support services required for instructional support.
- Establish a substitute teacher program of appropriate scope.
- Establish paraprofessional schedule and supervise staff.
- Organize, gather, and monitor transportation information for all students attending the program. Remain in close contact with the transportation coordinator/office.
- Assume responsibility for attendance accounting and submit enrollment and attendance reports.
- Make classroom visits.
- Prepare the summer school schedule and assume responsibility of obtaining IEPs, equipment, materials etc. necessary for students to participate in the program.
- Report and certify to special services supervisors the completion of progress reports for all students attending the ESY program.
- Prepare and maintain required records including attendance, transportation changes, progress reports, etc.
- Prepare and administer the summer school operating budget.
- All supervisory responsibilities must be fulfilled. In particular, students must be supervised at all times.
- Ability to read, interpret directions, write reports and communicate effectively with students, parents and other staff.
- Ability to calculate figures and perform any math functions associated with the position and provide budget input when requested.
- Ability to apply common sense and deal with problems in a practical and reasonable manner.
- Ability to apply basic computer knowledge to the activity at hand.
- Ability to perform duties with all district and Board of Education guidelines and policies in mind.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the activity.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position that may vary widely depending on the activity.
