Assist in small group and individual pupil instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
- Assist teacher with instructional activities.
- Escort students from room to room.
- Assist with toileting students as required.
- Work with both special education and regular students.
- Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEPs.
- Supervise students during recess and lunch.
- Assist students with classroom assignments.
- Copy materials for instructional purposes.
- Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork.
- Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.
- May require supporting with toileting of students.
- PMT required.
Education and/or Experience
:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree. Two years of college credit or an associate’s (or higher) degree; or successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment (Parapro Assessment).
Language Skills
:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills
:
Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10s and 100s, and perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume and distance.
Computer Skills
:
Basic knowledge and experience with job‑related computer hardware and software applications.
Reasoning Ability
:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Skills and Abilities
:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear; stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; push items up to 50 pounds; lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance if necessary. Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment is typical of classrooms with school children, with standard acceptable noise levels. The employee will work throughout the school building, on school grounds and occasionally off campus. The paraprofessional is responsible for the safety and well‑being of students in their charge.
Salary
:
Per contractual agreement.
Work Hours
: 6 hours per day, 7:45 am to 2:15 pm.
