essential duties & responsibilities

other duties may be assigned.

  • obtains information orally or in written form for designated school personnel regarding the student's school record or behavior and attendance.
  • maintains a professional awareness of regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge of state law, board policy and administrative regulations.
  • confers regularly with school administrators regarding attendance matters and informs the pupil personnel staff of the attendance patterns of chronic offenders.
  • participates in srbi/ppt conferences as requested.
  • works closely with school social worker and school counselor.
  • presents a positive image of the school to parents and conveys to them the school's genuine concern with education, growth and development of each child.
  • serves as a channel of communication for relaying the concerns, thoughts and attitudes of parents and the general public to the school.
  • perform other duties as required by school administrators.

qualification requirements

education and/or experience
  • bachelor's degree in a related field (psychology, social work, etc)
language skills

ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

mathematical skills

ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of american money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

computer skills

basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications.

reasoning ability

ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

other skills and abilities

ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and board of education policies.
