This position is for a Field Service Engineer in Aftermarket and Service who is under moderate supervision. Performs moderately complex on‑site preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration after installation. Responsible for analyzing test readings, computer printouts, and trouble reports to determine equipment repair needs. Assists in orienting, training, and assigning work of technical/business support employees.
Key Responsibilities- Start up, commission, and re‑commission customer systems that utilize DDC technology
- Provides solutions to mid‑level system problems either by troubleshooting the system or assisting others on how to resolve problems. Works with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation
- Be able to provide turnkey project delivery on small projects (80 or less budgeted hours)
- Unitary systems (VAV/FPB/FCU)
- Complete all required commissioning documentation, maintain accurate as‑built drawing package and mark changes
- Responsible for total system operation from controllers to sensors, loading software. Set up trends, alarms, and reports and work with customer IT personnel, etc. Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi‑meters, network terminals, and/or a laptop computer
- Performs mid‑level static (stand‑alone) commissioning of software programming
- Performs site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total system
- Responsible for setup of operator workstations with all associated software
- Responsible for performing job database backups on a daily basis or as advised
- Assists with project turnover to the Service Department
- Maintain a daily log of pertinent job‑related activities
- Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
- Mentors and develops Field Engineers on all field tools and technology. Serves as technical resource. May assist sales in development of cost estimate on semi‑complex projects
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years’ experience in the HVAC Controls Industry or similar low‑Voltage systems
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to travel in excess of 50% of the typical workweek in the local service area
- Ability to work overtime, occasional weekends and occasional overnight travel
- Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule
- Ability to communicate and resolve problems effectively. Excellent time management, attention to detail, and follow‑through.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electronics, or IT
- Field experience and an understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and ability to understand/navigate third‑party control systems and integrations
- Some experience with Automated Logic to include:
Web Ctrl, Site Builder, View Builder, Logic Builder, Inter Op 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, and Supervision - Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines
