Job Description & How to Apply Below
Are you looking for a master's level internship in grant writing and management? Wheeler offers a single placement annually in its Grants Department. Wheeler supports the life span of clientele, with a large population representing underserved communities.
The grants intern will have an opportunity to learn about how to search for funding opportunities to meet agency and program needs, review and summarize funding opportunities (request for proposals (RFPs), notice of funding opportunities (NOFOs), etc.), develop grant reports, gather required attachments for grant proposals and reports, lay out narrative drafts for new funding opportunities, request and analyze program data for use in proposals and grant reports, create data charts, figures, and graphs in Excel for use in proposals and reports, and write smaller community, private, or corporate grant proposals.
The internship opportunity will likely include the opportunity to collaborate with program leaders across the agency and the senior leadership team during the full grant cycle. Extensive training on all stages of the grant cycle and mentoring will be provided by Wheeler's Senior Director of Grants.
Interns will receive practical hands-on training to learn how to search for funding opportunities, how to interpret funding notices, and how to develop compelling grant proposals and reports. This internship is perfect for individuals wanting to work in healthcare or social services but not wanting to provide direct client services.
Please submit your application for an internship, a cover letter, and at least one writing sample. You may be contacted by our internship team to discuss the Grants Intern position.

Candidate must be currently enrolled in a university master's program for social work, public health, public administration, or other relevant programs. The position requires strong writing and verbal communication skills, exceptional organizational and time management skills, and knowledge of data analysis and Microsoft Word and Excel.
