Job Overview

Lake Compounce – Seasonal Security Agent ($18/hour)

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Enforce all park rules and regulations
  • Monitor park assets to ensure safety of guests and employees
  • Maintain constant vigilance during park operations; identify potential issues or safety concerns and communicate to departments and/or leadership promptly
  • Conduct bag checks to prevent prohibited items from entering the park
  • Maintain compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures to create a safe environment
  • Monitor guest safety; communicate conflicts to supervisors on duty
  • Take control of emergency and intense situations while remaining calm
  • Professionally manage crowd control during emergencies
  • Continuously monitor guest behaviors and attempt to curtail potential situations before they escalare
  • Exercise clear and concise communications with all park departments
  • Answer phone calls; provide pleasant and helpful phone contact for staff and the public
  • Assist in safety prevention efforts, responding to safety calls, fire alarms, and emergencies
  • Utilize electronic card access, closed‑circuit television, and other audio/visual monitoring systems; monitor and supervise responses to reports or irregular conditions
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Connecticut Guard Card is required (as applicable)
  • 1+ year of previous security or related experience desired; equivalent work experience also considered
  • Language:
    Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English;
    Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from scheduled shift
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Must be able to safely and efficiently operate motorized vehicles and equipment
  • Must comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Must apply knowledge of security methods, procedures, interviewing, listening, and note‑taking techniques for specific situations
  • Must deal fairly, objectively, and courteously with the public without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs
  • Must analyze people and/or situations quickly and calmly and take appropriate actions promptly and effectively
  • Must operate a variety of electronic equipment, such as cameras, radios, PCs, or other communication devices
  • Must professionally and calmly deal with stressful and/or tense situations
  • Must collaborate with other team members, external first responders, and emergency personnel during emergency situations
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
  • Must maintain certifications as required by assignment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
  • Occasional stooping, twisting, kneeling, bending, squatting, or reaching above shoulders
  • Ability to walk, stand, or run on uphill, downhill, or uneven surfaces; remain sedentary for extended periods using computer or camera equipment
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more
  • Good visual acuity, night vision, and peripheral vision; ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away
Working Conditions

This role will be based in both an office setting and frequent exposure to indoor and outdoor park environments. Exposure to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions. Subject to dark environments during midnight shift, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments. Frequent interruptions and requests that may require reprioritization of activities.
