Description
Work as part of a collaborative team providing housing search, placement, and stabilization services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.
The Housing Specialist supports individuals and families in securing safe, permanent housing as quickly as possible through the Rapid Rehousing Program funded by HUD through the Connecticut Department of Housing. This role focuses on housing navigation, landlord engagement, survivor-centered advocacy, and housing stability services with a goal of housing survivors within 30 days or less.
The Housing Specialist will assist survivors with locating housing, completing applications, and navigating the leasing process while coordinating closely with Advocates to complete intake, screening, and housing assessments within 48 hours of enrollment. Responsibilities include showing survivors at least three safe and appropriate housing options based on survivor preference, conducting housing inspections and rent reasonableness reviews, and providing ongoing landlord and survivor mediation to support successful tenancy.
The position requires maintaining strong relationships with landlords and community partners, educating landlords on Rapid Rehousing rental assistance, and ensuring compliance with HUD, DOH, and CCADV requirements. Strict confidentiality, accurate documentation, attendance at trainings and team meetings are required. Other related duties may be assigned in support of program goals.
ScheduleMonday through Friday 9:00 A.M. – 5:30 P.M.
Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree and two years relevant experience.
Salary Range- $19.00 – $21.50 per hour (depending on experience)
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) rate of pay: $19.96 – $22.59 per hour (depending on experience)
