OVERVIEW The Part-Time Education Abroad Advising & Engagement Coordinator at Penn State Global supports the daily operations of the Education Abroad Advising and Engagement team at Penn State University Park. This role focuses on coordinating and mentoring a team of undergraduate peer advisers who provide advising services and outreach support for students interested in education abroad opportunities. The position is part-time at approximately 16 hours per week and is intended for recent graduates, graduate students, or professionals seeking experience in higher education, student services, or international education.

The coordinator works in a collaborative, student-centered environment and contributes to front-line student engagement, office operations, and outreach activities. The role begins in mid- to late August 2026 and continues through the spring 2027 semester.

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day coordinator for a team of 11 undergraduate peer advisers providing in-person and virtual advising services
  • Provide guidance, answer questions, and support peer advisers in their daily

  • Help ensure smooth office operations within the Education Abroad Advising and Engagement team
  • Coordinate peer adviser schedules and assist with office hour coverage
  • Help arrange coverage for presentations, outreach events, and other office needs
  • Welcome students at the front reception desk during drop-in hours and scheduled advising appointments
  • Assist with managing the office’s shared email account
  • Respond to general student inquiries or route questions to appropriate staff members
  • Support outreach activities, administrative projects, and additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Work collaboratively within a student-centered and globally engaged office environment
Requirements
  • Availability between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Ability to work approximately 16 hours per week
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, student-centered environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking initiative independently
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring and supporting undergraduate student employees

  • Preferred experience studying, living, or working abroad
  • Preferred experience mentoring or supervising students
