POSITION SUMMARY

Each year, York County Parks' employs part-time, seasonal positions to assist full-time staff with Christmas Magic. Christmas Magic is a spectacular walk-through light show. This memorable 40+-year tradition attracts over 40,000 visitors each year from PA and surrounding states. Positions are available for setting up lights and props from the beginning of September until the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and/or working evenings of the show from the day after Thanksgiving through December 30th.

Hours are flexible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working as part of a team to assist with set-up for 'Christmas Magic - A Festival of Lights' in the months leading up to the event (September – November, daytime)
    • Stringing lights on trees, shrubs, and fencing
    • Decorating pavilions
    • Placing props in ground
    • Fence Painting
  • Working the admissions booth during Christmas Magic (November – December, evenings)
    • Interacting with the public
    • Scanning tickets and operating a cash register
  • Being a trail walker during Christmas Magic (November – December, evenings)
    • Walking the path during the event to ensure operations are running smoothly
    • Being a welcoming face for visitors, other staff, and volunteers
    • Helping patrons during the event
    • Picking up litter and addressing other issues that may arise
    • Giving directions and assistance to admission booth staff and food stand volunteers
  • Time Period

    September – December 30th. The position is approved for only that calendar year & subject to normal hiring practices, usually during summer months, with potential for renewal into the next year. Position hours will not exceed 999 per year.

    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
    • Good listening skills with attention to detail
    • Must be at least 18 years of age to help set-up the displays
    • Must be at least 16 years of age or to work the event
    • Set-up employees must be comfortable working outside in various weather conditions (rain, snow, hot, cold, etc.)
    • Event employees must be comfortable with cold weather
    • Set-up employees must be comfortable using a ladder
