Corrections Community Center Monitor - Pittsburgh CCC

THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Corrections Community Center Monitor at the Pittsburgh Corrections Community Center (CCC). This role gives you the chance to guide and support female reentrants as they rebuild their lives and prepare for a successful return to their communities. You will help maintain a safe, structured environment where reentrants can focus on positive change and personal growth.

This position helps maintain safety, structure, and accountability for reentrants at the Pittsburgh Corrections Community Center. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:

• Safety Monitoring:
  Observe reentrant behavior, conduct counts, and perform searches for contraband
• Security Oversight:
  Maintain logs, monitor Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, control movement, and manage sign-in and sign-out registers
• Orientation Support:
  Explain policies, assign rooms and duties, and review available public services with new reentrants
• Compliance Checks:
  Verify reentrant destinations and administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests
• Behavior Documentation:
  Write observations, issue misconducts, attend hearings, and support reentrants in meeting program goals
• Facility Care:
  Inspect living and common areas for cleanliness, safety, and readiness, and assist new monitors as needed

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
• Work hours will include different shifts or irregular hours.
• Telework:
  You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:
  Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,999.00 (before taxes).

• You must be willing and able to work in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
• You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
• One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the military)

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
