Job DescriptionPursuant to R.I. Gen. Laws § 16-11.4-6(b), by September 1, 2025, and each subsequent year, teachers employed in Rhode Island public schools must demonstrate proficiency or awareness in the knowledge and practices in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy instruction.
All teachers, administrators, and other certified personnel will have one year from the date of appointment to provide evidence of meeting proficiency or awareness requirements in the Science of Reading and structured Literacy, as determined by their role. (RIDE Right to Read Act Regulations).

Mt. Hope High School, a regional 9-12 comprehensive high school for Bristol and Warren, is a 2006 Regents Commended School. In addition to completing twenty four (24) credits of coursework, students must also show proficiency in school-wide expectations, as evidenced by artifacts in digital portfolios. Teachers in all content areas are responsible for giving students opportunities to demonstrate proficiency in school-wide expectations.
Job Requirements- QUALIFICATIONS: Valid RIDE certification as a Secondary Special Educator
- Knowledge of the federal and state regulations governing special education
- Experience supporting students in inclusive school settings
- Experience serving as a member of a team
- Experience in supporting/remediating students’ needs in reading, written language, math and/or SEL
