Job Description1. Plan and implement instruction that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students and exposes them to general education curricula.
2. Create a learning environment that is conducive to learning and that addresses students' needs through age-appropriate means.
3. Implement instructional methods and materials appropriate to meet individual student's needs.
4. Work with a team to develop measurable and observable educational/behavioral goals and objectives within IEPs that meet the individual needs/abilities of students and adhere to the District's standards and procedures.
5. Assess students regularly and routinely to document their progress and communicate the results to parents and other teachers.
6. Serve as Case Manager for students with current IEPs, as assigned.
7. Support and consult with colleagues, parents and students regarding supports, interventions and outcomes.
8. Support students in their interactions with their typically developing peers.
9. Utilize appropriate reevaluation instruments for student reevaluation and make accurate determination of individual current students' performance, needs, strengths and continued eligibility for special services. 10. Assume other duties and assignments that may be made by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services or Building Principal. Pursuant to R.I. Gen. Laws § 16-11.4-6(b), by September 1, 2025, and each subsequent year, teachers employed in Rhode Island public schools must demonstrate proficiency or awareness in the knowledge and practices in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy instruction.
All teachers, administrators, and other certified personnel will have one year from the date of appointment to provide evidence of meeting proficiency or awareness requirements in the Science of Reading and structured Literacy, as determined by their role. (RIDE Right to Read Act Regulations). Position Type:

- QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Valid RIDE certification as a Secondary Special Educator
2.Knowledge of the federal and state regulations governing special education Experience supporting students in inclusive school settings Experience serving as a member of a team Experience in supporting/remediating students' needs in reading, written language, math and/or SEL Pursuant to R.I. Gen. Laws § 16-11-4-6(b), by September 1, 2025, and each subsequent year, teachers employed in Rhode Island public schools must demonstrate proficiency or awareness in the knowledge and practices in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy instruction.
