Position Overview
The Department of Writing Studies, Rhetoric, and Composition seeks part‑time faculty for semester‑length appointments in its award‑winning Writing Program. All courses are held in‑person on our Bristol campus. Possible courses include:
- WTNG 100:
Introduction to Academic Writing - WTNG 102:
How Writing Works - WTNG 225:
Writing in Professional and Public Contexts

Compensation is on a per course basis. Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of three sections per semester.
ResponsibilitiesSuccessful applicants will advance writing program outcomes, contribute to assessment, and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence in teaching.
RequirementsMinimum qualifications include a master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition, English, or a related field by the time of appointment and recent college‑level teaching experience.
At the University’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted if the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
