Mechanical Design Engineer

Orbit Motion Systems is looking for a mechanical design engineer with experience in machine and subassembly design. The role focuses on automating manufacturing tasks in the packaging and food & beverage industries using robotic technologies and motion programming.

• Design, layout, test, and evaluate mechanical assemblies, ensuring viability before integration into final machines.
• Perform design, layout, and testing of sub-assemblies and platforms, supporting all engineering processes including drafting and detailed design using Solid Works.
• Integrate cam movements, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other mechanisms to achieve product movements.
• Execute small to medium‑sized mechanical design projects from concept to completion, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Support verification and validation of new designs through testing.

• BS in engineering with 5–10 years of related experience.
• Previous mechanical design experience is a must; portfolio of work required.
• Strong organizational and accountability skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Technical aptitude with innovative and creative problem‑solving, troubleshooting.

• Experience in a manufacturing environment and machine shop.
• Proficiency in 3D design and analysis software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, Pro/E).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Adaptability to rapidly changing work environments and operational situations.

• Machining experience.
• Electrical knowledge.

Starting at $85,000 annually, depending on experience.
