US Sailing is seeking a creative, collaborative, and highly organized Communications and Marketing Manager to support the organization’s communications and marketing efforts.
Working across all US Sailing departments, the Communications and Marketing Manager will help develop and deliver clear, engaging content across a variety of platforms and channels. This role is ideal for a strong writer and communicator who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment and is comfortable managing multiple projects, balancing competing priorities, and adapting content for a range of audiences from community sailing to offshore to Olympics.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesContent & Communications
- Write and edit website stories, news releases, newsletters, email communications, social media copy, event promotions, and other communications materials.
- Support organizational announcement and initiatives.
- Provide US Sailing and US Sailing Team event coverage.
- Maintain a consistent US Sailing and US Sailing Team voice, tone, and brand across communications channels.
- Identify compelling stories and opportunities to highlight the impact of US Sailing, US Sailing Team and the sailing community.
- Update US Sailing’s website as required.
- Day-to-day management of US Sailing and US Sailing Team social media channels.
- Develop social content and coordinate graphics, photography, video, and other creative assets.
- Help create social media calendars and coordinate content across platforms.
- Monitor engagement, trends and contribute ideas to grow US Sailing and US Sailing Team’s digital audience.
- Support social coverage of US Sailing events and championships.
- Support social coverage of the US Sailing Team events, championships and the athlete’s road to the Olympics.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, sports management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3-6 years of experience in content creation and communications.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Experience creating content for social media and digital platforms.
- Familiarity with email marketing and content management systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment, including evenings and weekends around major events.
- Experience working in sports or another national governing body environment.
- Strong knowledge of sailing
- Experience with platforms such as Word Press, Mailchimp, Canva, Adobe and similar communications tools
