Position Summary
As an integral part of the accounting team, this position requires the use of accounting principles to handle complex accounting issues, including; assisting with month-end accounting close process, analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports by compiling information from Quick Books - manufacturing edition, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. Applicant must be organized, detailed oriented, capable of follow-up and familiar with excel spreadsheets and be capable to manage and manipulate large databases.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Performing cost accounting and costing utilities for all of company
- Performing various accounts reconciliations as assigned by management.
- Work in progress, inventory, cost of sales, and other accounts related to cost accounting.
- Performing various journal entries assigned by management:
Payroll (accruals and actuals), A/P, A/R, collecting, purchasing, inventory, etc. - Management Reporting related to cost accounting and inventory.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Monitoring internal process and controls to ensure compliance with department, client and vendor guidelines.
- Interact with various auditors (internal and external) to provide requested data and reports in a timely manner.
- Assist in all administrative matters.
- Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff.
- Reports to CEO, President and VP
- Initiates and maintains positive, successful relationships with all payers, vendors, and providers
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly journal entries.
- Prepare and analyze general ledger account reconciliations.
- Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements.
- Assist with month end and year end closing processes.
- Prepare various governmental filings including but not limited to; monthly and quarterly sales and use tax.
- Work as a team with other staff members, which included backing up other members of the team during their absences.
- Recommend changes to improve systems and workflow.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
- 5-7 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in general accounting functions.
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
- Strong financial accounting background
- Standard Cost Accounting experience in manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical skills using Microsoft excel and Quick Books.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work well with others, both internal and external.
- Strong work ethics
- Ability to multi-task and communicated effectively at all levels of management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills - proficient in Microsoft office products.
- A can-do attitude shows initiative and willingness to adapt to change.
- Willingness and desire to be dedicated to position, focused on work with limited interruption from outside responsibilities.
- Attendance is a must.
Physical demands are moderate with occasional lifting of items weighing approximately 20 - 30 pounds. Vision must be correctable to normal range and hearing acuity must be adequate to receive instructions and converse on standard telephone. Must have man al dexterity sufficient to operate a key board and other standard office equipment. Successful drug and background screen required.
