About This Role
Responsible for assisting the Director with planning and implementing a successful after school empowerment program for girls in accordance with the policies and mission of the organization through direct interaction and supervision of after school participants.
What You'll Do- Reading and understanding all YWCA and State of Tennessee standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance at all times with all YWCA and State of Tennessee standards, policies and procedures.
- Operating the YWCA bus in the transportation of girls to and from the after school program and scheduled field trips ensuring compliance with all YWCA and State of Tennessee Department of Transportation and Department of Education policies and procedures.
- Direct supervision of girls at all times during program activities and field trips.
- Ensuring completion of daily homework assignments and providing assistance as needed.
- Maintaining accurate records including participant and parent information, attendance, meals, accidents, and medications administered.
- Communicating all relevant information concerning participants, incidents etc. to the Director as they occur.
- Assisting with multi‑age educational programs including math, science, reading, physical activities, technology, social skills, introduction to community resources, and empowerment.
- Conducting age‑appropriate weekly/monthly themed activities and special events in coordination with the Director of After school.
- Implementing the computer‑based curriculum in a classroom setting, including Micro Worlds, LEGO Mindstorms, Microsoft Office Programs.
- Providing first aid and medical assistance as needed.
- Ensuring all girls are offered a nutritious snack immediately after school.
- Resolving conflict between participants.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Participating in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Completing and maintaining required training and certifications.
- Participating in program marketing in the community when necessary.
- Assisting the Director of After school with general office tasks.
- Maintaining a positive, flexible and cooperative attitude with all staff, volunteers, after school participants and parents.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of the YWCA Tech Gyrls After school program.
Minimum of Associate Degree or three years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school youth (grades 4–8). At least 21 years of age in accordance with Tennessee Department of Education driver requirements.
