In your role as Sr. Manager of Operations, you will oversee and manage the team that will support the playout and origination of CW/MyNet Stations originating from our Cloud-Base Master Control Platform. This position provides leadership, guidance and development for a team of Master Control Operators and is responsible for strategic planning and implementation of processes and procedures for station origination.
MajorResponsibilities
- Create and develop strategic operational plans for the FOX TV Stations that originate from this facility.
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Media Operations Center (MOC) in Bristol, VA.
- Communicate clear expectations regarding performance standards and measurements used to evaluate success of individuals and the department.
- Participate in recruiting and hiring direct reports. Assist in getting new staff embedded in the business.
- Recognize and reward efforts of high-performing employees. Provide regular and consistent feedback.
- Partner with leadership and peers to align policies, procedures and best practices to create an effective, productive and efficient environment.
- Oversee and provide senior level direction to resolve technical, workflow and system issues to ensure effective long-term problem resolution.
- Maintain in-depth working knowledge of Content Origination and Operation of the Cloud-base playout systems.
- Coordinate and drive the business relationship with key internal partners and significant Station’s General Managers.
- Consistently check in with staff and update regularly about workflow processes and changes made for the day-to-day operations.
- Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in developing positive employee relations.
- Prepare performance evaluations, participate in yearly reviews.
- Take responsibility for the work environment, both culturally and physically.
- Assist with special projects as necessary.
- Approach operations and resourcing with an agile and lean mindset.
- Be able to adjust to a 24/7 facility needs and requirements.
- Compile data and generate reports, as needed.
- 4+ years of experience in a significant supervisory or managerial role in the television broadcasting/local TV station industry.
- Experience managing an on-air operations team of 10+ staff members.
- Experience with on-air Master Control automation systems.
- Experience with Cloud Automation Playout System – AMAGI Cloudport (a plus).
- Experience troubleshooting operational issues (Playout, Media, Caption, etc.).
- Experience with digital workflows and digital video technologies.
- Experience with systems and hardware for content ingest, playout and distribution.
- Experience and understanding in switching live local news and network sporting events.
- Experience in local station operations.
- Excellent writing skills of technical operating procedures.
