Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2 years of experience, ACLS, and an active TN or Compact RN license.

Details
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting, with floating required to other units including MS/Tele at a 1:7 ratio
  • Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neuro (CVA, TBI), gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, orthopedic, and renal cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:4 on the PCU
  • Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00
  • Schedule options: 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48
  • Every other weekend required, rotating holidays
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Epic EMR, experience required
  • Charting via Epic is required
Requirements
  • Active RN license — TN state or Compact license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • 1:4 patient ratio experience required
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral line care experience required
  • Experience with respiratory management including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry required
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), heparin protocols, and PCA required
  • Two supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to comply with CDC fit testing guidelines
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Preferred skills include PICC line management, total joint replacement care, and ortho trauma
  • Responsibilities include nursing student support and clinical education in addition to direct patient care
  • Orientation begins on Sundays with online CBL modules (approximately 4–5 hours, non-billable)
  • Drug test must be completed within 12–14 calendar days prior to start; candidates should have no prior engagements during this window and must be willing to return for a second lab visit if needed
  • Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
