The ASC Staff RN provides direct nursing care to patients by performing pre‑operative assessment and preparing the patients for surgery in accordance with facility and organizational policies, meeting the standards of professional nursing practice and providing intra‑operative and post‑operative care. The RN is accountable for using experience and judgment to plan appropriate care for patients, consistently remaining calm and prioritizing patient needs.

Direct supervision from nurse manager; indirect supervision from anesthesiologist, CRNA, and physicians.

Patients, family, visitors, physicians, nursing staff, radiology, sales representatives, students, clerical staff, and administration.

• Effectively utilize the nursing process in caring for patients.
• Maintain working knowledge of nursing techniques to ensure complete and competent care.
• Keep EHR documentation clear, concise and complete.
• Collaborate with patients/family and health‑care team; act as patient advocate.
• Comply with all safety and infection control standards/policies.
• Comply with all surgery center policies and procedures.
• Follow all nursing standards and protocols.
• Assure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Exhibit flexibility in assignment areas.
• Follow pain‑management assessment procedures and abuse/neglect identification protocols.
• Adhere to OSHA safety, fire, and emergency preparedness guidelines.
• Perform additional functions as requested by the Nurse Manager, including stocking supplies, narcotic counts, and chart reviews.
• Collaborate with physicians on orders; review lab values, EKGs, and x‑ray reports.
• Document care/charges provided to patients.
• Provide prescribed medications and pharmaceutical products per physician orders.
• Prepare for emergency situations and use correct emergency procedures and equipment.
• Administer medication and perform treatments for assigned patients.
• Participate in maintaining a clean and safe environment.

• Perform duties competently and in a timely manner.
• Adjust work assignments and personal schedule according to patient load and staffing needs.

• Attend all mandatory in‑services.
• Maintain current knowledge of skills necessary for nursing care of all ages and developmental stages.
• Implement department policies and procedures appropriately.
• Use problem‑solving techniques to resolve patient care issues.
• Act as a patient advocate.

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice.
• BLS certification.
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Two years of PACU, ICU, ER or OR experience desired.
• Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.
• Thorough knowledge and skills for patient care across all ages and developmental stages.
• Maintain current knowledge and skills in departmental policies and procedures.

• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Assist with lifting and moving patients, and lifting supplies and equipment.
• Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching as required.

• Regular exposure to blood borne pathogens.
• Regular exposure to diseases and infections.
• Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals and radiation from radiology equipment.
