Schedule varies week by week. Employees are scheduled for 28 hours a week.

This position is responsible for:

Assisting store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operating and maintaining a cash register; responding to customers' questions; maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensuring the security of store items and the cash register.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting customers purchasing items from The Salvation Army by ringing-up sales utilizing a cash register; collecting monies, counting change and preparing receipts; preparing and packaging purchased items; preparing and balancing the cash drawer and running routine register printouts; preparing and delivering bank deposits; ensuring the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records in accordance with established operating procedures.

Preparing, processing, and maintaining various sales records, tax forms, and social service vouchers; preparing routine sales reports as directed.

Maintaining the neatness and security of the cash register area; ensuring that forms, bags, etc. are adequately stocked.

Placing and arranging items in the store as directed; checking all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner; rotating and/or rearranging stock as directed; returning items to the proper location after customers have handled.

Cleaning all display racks and shelves; sweeping and mopping floors; cleaning windows and mirrors; ensuring that the store is maintained in a clean and inviting manner.

Physical Requirements and

Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language

Ability to operate a cash register

Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change

Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment.

Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather.

High School diploma or G.E.D. and 6 months' experience working in a retail store preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
