Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine sampling and analysis of boiler water, cooling water, condensate, and process water.
- Monitor boiler and cooling water chemistry to ensure compliance with operational specifications and industry standards.
- Analyse laboratory results, identify trends, and investigate abnormal findings.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test reports, and calibration documentation.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and analytical equipment.
- Verify chemical dosing programmes and support adjustments where required.
- Assist in troubleshooting chemistry-related process issues to minimise equipment corrosion, scaling, and fouling.
- Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.
- Ensure all laboratory work complies with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory and plant operations.
- Previous experience working as a Chemist, Plant Chemist, Power Plant Chemist, Water Chemist, or in a similar laboratory-based role.
- Practical laboratory experience performing analytical testing and interpreting results.
- Knowledge of boiler water and cooling water chemistry.
- Experience using laboratory equipment such as pH meters, conductivity meters, spectrophotometers, titration equipment, and dissolved oxygen analysers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and produce technical reports.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
