Service Technician

Avonmouth, Bristol Salary: £22.00 per hour (£46,046 per annum) Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off | 6:30am - 6:30pm Holiday Entitlement: 21 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. All other bank holidays falling within the shift pattern are considered working days.

The Role We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Technician to join our busy workshop team in Avonmouth. Reporting to the Workshop Chargehand and Workshop/Service Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs to manufacturer standards, ensuring vehicles are maintained safely, efficiently and to the highest quality. Key Responsibilities Carry out all service, maintenance and repair work in line with manufacturer standards and guidelines. Perform vehicle inspections, fault finding, diagnostic testing and repairs. Complete adjustment operations and replacement of worn or defective components. Undertake major repair and assembly work, including work on major vehicle units and systems. Install and retrofit accessories and detachable body components as required. Identify and report unusual wear, defects and additional repair requirements.

Receive and follow work instructions from the Workshop Controller via job cards. Accurately document all service, repair, diagnostic and safety inspection findings. Report any additional work, parts or labour requirements promptly. Maintain special tools and workshop equipment, reporting any defects immediately. Keep work bays, workshop areas and equipment clean, safe and organised. Support colleagues with technical advice, troubleshooting and new technology developments.

Attend and complete manufacturer training programmes and technical development courses. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, health and safety regulations. Key Objectives Complete all service and maintenance work efficiently within manufacturer time schedules. Deliver high-quality workmanship at all times. Carry out comprehensive vehicle diagnostics and fault rectification. Provide a professional and customer-focused approach in all aspects of work. Contribute to customer satisfaction, retention and aftersales excellence.

Promote the company's professional image and manufacturer brand standards. Ensure all work is completed safely and documented accurately. Candidate Requirements Previous experience as an HGV Technician, PSV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Vehicle Technician. Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities. Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance and major mechanical repairs. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Strong understanding of health and safety practices within a workshop environment. Relevant vehicle maintenance qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent) would be advantageous. HGV licence desirable but not essential.
