Position Title
City-Wide Para educator (Non‑Certified: Support Aides/Para educator K‑8) – Currently at West Bristol.

Reports ToSpecial Education Teacher
SummaryAssist in small group and individual pupil instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
- Assist teacher with instructional activities.
- Escort students from room to room.
- Provide toileting assistance to students when required.
- Work with both special education and regular students.
- Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEPs.
- Supervise students during recess and lunch.
- Assist students with classroom assignments.
- Copy materials for instructional purposes.
- Assist teacher in filing materials and preparing necessary paperwork.
- Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.
- PMT required and provided by the district.
Education and/or
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED. Two years of college credit or an associate’s degree (or higher); OR successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment (Parapro Assessment) evaluating content knowledge in mathematics, reading, and writing.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers; multiply/divide with 10s and 100s; perform operations using units of U.S. money and weight, volume, and distance.
Computer
Skills:
Basic knowledge and experience with job‑related computer hardware and software applications.
Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; solve problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other
Skills and Abilities:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community; perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, talk, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Must push items up to 50 lbs (e.g., moving children or furniture) and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision.
Work Environment: Typical classroom noise level. Work throughout the school building, on school grounds, and occasionally off campus. Responsible for the safety and well‑being of students in charge.

Salary and HoursSalary:
Per contractual agreement.
Work hours:
6.5 hours per day (7:45 am to 2:45 pm).
