About the RoleAre you passionate about technology and committed to helping young people discover their potential? At Avonside School, we seek an enthusiastic IT / Computer Science Teacher (or Instructor) to join our dedicated team. This role involves leading engaging, accessible lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4, supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs and promoting digital literacy.
What You'll Be Doing- Deliver engaging IT and Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, linked to the National Curriculum.
- Develop pupils' core digital skills, preparing them for further education, employment and independent living.
- Plan and deliver personalised learning experiences that meet a wide range of SEND and SEMH needs.
- Act as a Form Tutor, supporting pupils' academic progress, wellbeing and personal development.
- Work collaboratively with the therapy team to create a curriculum that reflects pupils' individual needs.
- Monitor progress and use assessment data to implement effective interventions and improve outcomes.
- Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of SEND provision and inclusive practice across the school.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies to ensure joined‑up support.
- Contribute to wider school development and innovation, embracing emerging technologies to enhance learning.
- Passionate about IT, Computer Science and the power of education to change lives.
- An excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to engage and inspire learners.
- Experienced in supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, or eager to develop within specialist education.
- Creative and adaptable, able to tailor learning to individual strengths and barriers.
- Skilled in behaviour management and building positive, restorative relationships.
- Confident using assessment information to monitor progress and drive improvement.
- An effective communicator who works collaboratively with colleagues, families and professionals.
- Organised, resilient and committed to achieving the very best outcomes for young people.
