Monarch Education are working with a special needs school in Bristol to recruit a full‑time SEND Teaching Assistant. This role is heavily focused on supporting pupils with complex and additional needs, and requires someone who is committed to working consistently, full time in a specialist setting.

This is not a mainstream classroom role. The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), complex learning needs, SEMH, communication needs, and physical needs. Staff are expected to provide hands‑on, structured, and consistent support throughout the school day.

Essential Criteria (Please Read Carefully)

Do not apply unless you meet the following requirements:

  • Full‑time availability (Monday to Friday)
  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
    , or relevant transferable experience (e.g. residential care, support work, youth work, or care settings)
  • A clear understanding of working with individuals who may have complex needs and behaviours

Applications that do not meet the above requirements will not be considered.

The role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex needs
  • Assist with personal care and daily routines where required
  • Support behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • Use structured approaches, including routines, visual supports, and sensory strategies
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team
  • Help create a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment
What we’re looking for:
  • Experience working with SEND or in a care/support‑based role
  • Understanding of working with individuals with additional or complex needs
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Able to build trusting and consistent relationships
  • Willingness to be hands‑on and adaptable throughout the day
  • Reliable and committed to full‑time work in a specialist setting
