A well-established, design‑led engineering consultancy is seeking a Fire Engineer to join their growing team.
The organisation is recognised for delivering technically robust and sustainable solutions across a broad range of sectors within the built environment for Fire Engineers.
This opportunity would suit a proactive Fire Engineer who enjoys a mix of technical design, analysis, and collaboration within multidisciplinary project teams.
The Fire Engineer’s RoleThe Fire Engineer will contribute to the delivery of fire safety strategies and engineering solutions across a varied project portfolio, ranging from complex large‑scale developments to specialist design commissions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development of fire strategy designs across multiple sectors
- Preparing detailed fire strategy reports using both prescriptive and performance‑based approaches
- Supporting fire engineering calculations, modelling, and analysis
- Producing clear and concise technical documentation outlining design methodologies and outcomes
- Attending site visits, project meetings, and design workshops
- Coordinating with architects, contractors, and consultants to achieve compliant design solutions
- Managing individual tasks to meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Maintaining awareness of current UK fire safety regulations, standards, and emerging practices
- Contributing to team knowledge sharing and ongoing professional development
The successful Fire Engineer will hold a degree in Fire Engineering or a related discipline and demonstrate a strong technical foundation within fire safety design.
They will have:
- A solid understanding of UK fire safety legislation and guidance
- Experience or exposure to fire modelling and analytical tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Good organisational and problem‑solving abilities
- Experience with in a consultancy or similar environment
- Progress towards Chartered status or membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., IFE or SFPE)
- Familiarity with technical software used within fire engineering
- £45,000-£50,000
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
- 9‑day fortnight working pattern
