As a Lead Controls Engineer - Sustaining SAQ, reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of controls engineers in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of control systems for abatement systems. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of control systems into projects.
Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that control systems meet performance requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of controls engineers, setting clear goals and priorities.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in control systems technology and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of control systems into larger projects.
- Ensure that control systems meet performance requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance through thorough testing and validation.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve complex issues with control systems in a timely manner.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and expertise in control systems engineering.
- Work closely with customers to understand their requirements and provide technical expertise and support as needed.
- HND (or equivalent) or degree in a relevant technical discipline, preferably in a controls or software discipline (Essential)
- 3 years working in controls and software within relevant industries (Desirable)
- Good level of spoken and written English
- Occasional customer site visits may be necessary as part of this role
- PLC programming – ladder logic, structured text, function blocks, data structures (Essential)
- HMI programming using or other high level languages (Essential)
- Communications protocols – Modbus TCP, Ether‑Cat (Desirable)

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on‑site at our office in Bristol, United Kingdom (GB).
