With a strong focus on sustainability, climate resilience, and innovation, the business works on some of the country’s most complex and high-profile projects, helping clients address challenges associated with flooding, urbanisation, and environmental change.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered flood risk professional looking to take a leadership role within a collaborative and technically respected team.

The Role

As an Associate Flood Risk Manager, you will play a key role in leading technical delivery, managing project teams, and supporting business growth across a diverse portfolio of flood risk and water management projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and delivering flood risk and hydraulic modelling projects from inception through to completion.
  • Leading project teams and mentoring junior engineers and consultants.
  • Producing and reviewing high-quality technical reports and client deliverables.
  • Undertaking and overseeing hydraulic modelling, hydrological assessments, GIS analysis, and flood risk studies.
  • Managing project finances, programmes, quality assurance, and change control processes.
  • Supporting business development activities, including tender preparation, proposals, and client engagement.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across environmental, planning, and engineering disciplines.
  • Contributing to the ongoing growth and technical development of the flood risk practice.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent).
  • Significant experience delivering flood risk assessments and hydraulic modelling projects within the UK.
  • Strong project management experience, including commercial and financial responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following:
    • Info Works ICM
    • TUFLOW / ESTRY
    • HEC-RAS
    • Strong understanding of UK hydrology and FEH methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills.
  • MSc or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure and development projects.
  • Track record of winning work and developing client relationships.
What’s on Offer?
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangement with UK-wide location flexibility.
  • Opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure and environmental projects.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Clear career progression and leadership development opportunities.
  • Professional membership support and ongoing training.
  • Collaborative and inclusive working environment.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary projects and industry-leading technical expertise.
Additional Information

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Certain projects may require security clearance, which would be discussed during the recruitment process where applicable.

If you’re passionate about delivering innovative flood risk solutions and want to play a key role in shaping resilient communities and infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you.
