Are you ready to continue your development & knowledge and gather a breadth of experience and learn new skills in this exciting venture caring for women and their babies in the antenatal and postnatal period? We have an opportunity for you to join our Maternity Recovery Team as a Recovery Nurse.

The post consists of two 12.5 hour shifts per week (07.00 - 19.30 Monday - Friday). No bank holidays! The team consists of 2 Registered Nurses who will work independently to cover a 5-day service. Therefore it is essential that you can be flexible with your work days.

Main duties of the job

  • Able to develop your clinical skills and participate in continuing your professional development?
  • Motivated, hardworking and great at communicating enabling the ability to work well in our multidisciplinary team?
  • Confident at reading drug charts and providing the appropriate medication at the right time and route for a number of patients in your care?
  • Able to confidently perform observations - identifying normal parameters, and escalating appropriately when outside of this?
  • Sufficient in wound care, identifying any deviation from normal and escalating appropriately?
  • Confident and timely in documentation?

There will also be the fantastic opportunity of training in breastfeeding support, glycaemic control in the neonate, contraception advice, discharge advice and supporting the team in emergency situations.

Person Specification Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience of caring for sick patients in a variety of settings - this could be as a student
  • Previous experience of speciality
Qualifications
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Training Qualification or equivalent experience
Skills and Abilities
  • Good basic level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems and use initiative
  • Ability to develop own clinical skills and a willingness to participate in continuing professional development
  • Competency in medication administration including IV drug administration
  • Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft packages)
  • Ability to take the lead, initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient.
