Housekeeper

A Housekeeper at The Nicewonder Inn supports the housekeeping team in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This role is essential in ensuring that our property consistently meets the highest standards of presentation and guest satisfaction. By assisting with daily operations, responding to guest needs, and supporting housekeeping staff, the Houseperson helps deliver the luxury hospitality experience that defines The Nicewonder Inn.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Room Attendants with heavy items such as mattresses, linens, and carts.
• Deliver linens, towels, and other supplies to housekeeping staff as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of floor closets, corridors, and storage spaces.
• Clean designated public spaces including restrooms, lobbies, and storage areas.
• Collect trash and used linens, ensuring prompt removal and proper disposal.
• Report maintenance issues, damages, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and special needs.
• Deliver lost and found items according to established procedures.
• Support laundry operations, including washing, drying, folding, and storing linens.
• Participate in deep cleaning projects and seasonal housekeeping initiatives.
• Promote teamwork and effective communication within the housekeeping department.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required:

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 1 year of housekeeping or custodial experience.
• Strong attention to detail; time management; teamwork and communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or luxury property.
• Familiarity with laundry operations and equipment.
• Bilingual abilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques, equipment use, and safety standards.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills for positive interaction with guests and team members.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Hotel/inn environment with regular interaction with guests and staff.
• Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout shift.
• Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs (supplies, linens, equipment).
• May require working in laundry facilities with exposure to heat and cleaning chemicals.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
