Volunteer Community Workshop Facilitator (Bristol)

Community Education delivers free educational workshops to groups of young people and adults across the UK to help increase community resilience.

We would like you to:

• Be able to volunteer on a regular basis.
• Be able to contribute a minimum of 8 hours per month and having flexibility with your availability would also be advantageous (workshops usually run on weekdays between 9am and 5pm, with occasional opportunities in the evenings or at weekends).
• Ability to work with young people and adults in school/youth or community settings to provide workshops.
• Be able to commit to volunteering for at least 9 months.
• Be willing to undertake all the required training for the role.
• Be willing to travel to workshop venues across your local area independently.
• Hold a driving licence that allows you to drive in the UK and have access to your own vehicle.

Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. Applicants will be asked to provide  in support of the DBS check.

Unfortunately we aren't able to accept applications from 15 – 17 year olds for this role. Please get in touch and we can support you to find another role in your area.

We take an individual approach to ensuring your safety. We may ask you to complete a simple risk assessment and will also have a conversation with you to discuss and identify any adjustments you may need.

We impart skills and knowledge to help people prepare for crises and deal with them. To support even more people, we require the help of our volunteers who know their local communities. Together, we can help enable positive outcomes for people impacted by adversity.

This is a wonderful opportunity to act on our shared values as a representative of the British Red Cross in your local community and play your part in helping build the next generation of humanitarians.

• Facilitate face-to-face or online workshops to groups of young people or adults, on a range of humanitarian topics to help strengthen your community.
• Help promote our work within your community so that more people may benefit from our education offer.

• Passionate about exploring humanitarian issues and values.
• Believe in the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Responsible, organised, reliable and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Ideally, you will have a reasonable level of IT literacy, and have access to suitable IT equipment and internet connection. (There is no expectation to deliver both face-to-face and digital workshops. You may choose either or both.)
