The EHS Technician supports occupational health, safety, facilities, and operations teams by identifying, evaluating, and helping control workplace hazards. This hands-on role conducts exposure monitoring, job hazard analysis, issues permits to work, area inspections, equipment checks, facilitates chemical waste management and compliance documentation to help maintain a safe, healthy, and reliable work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct workplace exposure assessments for chemical, physical, ergonomic, noise, and heat stress hazards.
  • Support occupational health programs, including medical surveillance coordination, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and exposure follow-up.
  • Perform area inspections and follow-up on corrective action statuses.
  • Issue permits to work for High-Risk Work:
    Lock-out Tag-out, Hot Work, Work at Heights, etc.
  • Support incident investigations by gathering details and timelines. Assist management in using root cause analysis tools, corrective action development, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Support audits, inspections, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts aligned with regulatory and company requirements and guidance.
  • Support chemical waste operations requiring ability to complete RCRA training and HAZWOPER training requirements.
  • Creates and distributes posters, signage, and forms. Organizes and files EHS documents and records.
Qualifications
  • High school Diploma
  • 0-3 years of experience in EHS functions with ability to pursue EHS certifications and appropriate training for job functional skills.
  • Base knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DEP regulations and other federal, state, and local code requirements or willingness and ability to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety mindset, and ability to collaborate across site teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
Travel between Abzena sites (Bristol PA, San Diego CA and Sanford NC) as needed.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand/walk during entire length of shift.
  • Use arms, hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Visual abilities including near and far sight, color, peripheral vision, depth and ability to focus.
