Research Ethics and Integrity Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic professional to lead the University’s approach to research ethics and integrity. This is an opportunity to shape institutional policy, systems and practice at a research-intensive university with a diverse and ambitious research portfolio.

Working within the Division of Research, Enterprise and Innovation, you will play a key role in ensuring research is conducted to the highest ethical and regulatory standards, supporting a positive and responsible research culture across the University.

You will join a collaborative, forward-looking team committed to enabling excellent research and continuous improvement. The role offers significant opportunity to work with senior stakeholders across disciplines, influencing institutional development and shaping how ethical and responsible research is supported at scale.

Reporting to the Head of Research Governance, you will:

• Lead the development of global institutional frameworks for research ethics and integrity, ensuring alignment with regulatory and funder requirements.
• Line manage the Research Integrity Officer and two Research Ethics Administrators, taking responsibility for staff development and training.
• Manage the business of the University Ethics of Research Committee including working closely with the Committee Chair.
• Oversee and enhance research ethics processes, systems and reviews across the University.
• Provide expert advice on complex ethical and integrity issues to researchers and senior leaders.
• Lead assurance, reporting and compliance activity, including the Concordat to Support Research Integrity.
• Develop training, guidance and engagement initiatives to embed a positive research integrity culture.
• Build effective relationships across the University and contribute to sector networks and best practice.

• Significant experience in research ethics, integrity or governance within a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and sector expectations.
• Experience of developing policy, systems or institutional frameworks.
• Experience of leading projects, services or teams and driving change and improvement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
