Product Engineer, CAD/ AutoCAD/ Mechanical Design
Akkodis is seeking a Plastic Product Design Engineer with strong expertise in injection molded plastic part design to support new product development for medical devices. The ideal candidate will have experience with mechanical design, tolerance stack‑up analysis, CAD modeling, and working in a regulated product development environment.
Pay Range: $31-$34/hr. on W2 (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)
Responsibilities- Design and develop injection molded plastic components from concept through production release.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using Creo.
- Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles throughout product development.
- Lead assigned design activities and manage technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D.
- Work with suppliers on tooling, DFM reviews, and design optimization.
- Support medical device new product development while following design control requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong experience designing injection molded plastic components.
- Proficiency with Creo CAD software.
- Experience performing tolerance stack‑up analysis.
- Ability to create detailed engineering drawings.
- Experience with plastic and metal assemblies.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience working in FDA‑regulated medical device environments.
- Knowledge of design controls and product development documentation.
- Experience interacting with vendors and tooling suppliers.
- Experience leading subsystem or small project development.
