Summary:

The Regional Parts Operations Specialist is a field-based role responsible for traveling statewide to support branch parts departments by providing expertise, coaching, and hands-on assistance with standardized processes and procedures. This role does not have direct supervisory responsibility, but works closely with the General Parts Manager, Operations Leaders, and frontline teams to improve consistency, efficiency, compliance, and customer experience across all locations.
The ideal candidate leverages deep parts operations knowledge, strong communication skills, and influence-based leadership to drive continuous improvement and best-practice adoption.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
  • Process & Procedure Support
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for parts department processes, systems, and standard work
    • Support consistent implementation of company and Caterpillar-mandated parts procedures across all branches
    • Identify gaps between documented process and actual practice and provide corrective guidance
    • Assist with rollout of new initiatives, tools, and process changes
  • Field Engagement & Coaching
    • Travel regularly to branches across the state to work alongside parts teams in their daily environment
    • Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring to supervisors and counter personnel
    • Reinforce best practices related to parts ordering, inventory management, returns, core handling, and customer fulfillment
    • Support onboarding and skill development for new parts leaders and team members
  • Operational Improvement
    • Partner with branch leadership to identify improvement opportunities and develop practical action plans
    • Support standardization efforts to reduce variation and improve efficiency across locations
    • Share successful practices and solutions between branches
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Act as a liaison between branch parts departments and central operations, supply chain, and leadership teams
    • Communicate process expectations clearly and effectively, ensuring understanding and buy-in
    • Provide feedback to leadership on systemic issues, training needs, or process barriers
  • Compliance & Governance
    • Support compliance with Caterpillar policies, internal audit requirements, and dealer standards
    • Assist branches in preparation for reviews, audits, and assessments
    • Promote disciplined process execution and accountability without formal authority
Minimum Skills and

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in parts operations within a heavy equipment, dealership, or industrial environment, preferred experience with multiple branch locations
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of parts department workflows, systems, and inventory practices, preferred experience with Caterpillar parts systems and dealer standards
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead without direct authority
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the state
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in continuous improvement, process standardization, or operational excellence initiatives
  • Training or facilitation experience

Physical Requirements:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight;

to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
