Position Overview:

The Transportation Specialist is a key member of the Transportation Network Design team. You will help ensure seamless execution of transportation strategies and optimize local operations by tracking expenses, managing driver route assignments, and aligning local activities with broader network goals. The role focuses on driving cost savings, improving efficiency, and continuously improving local transportation processes.

Requirements and Key Responsibilities are listed below.

• Effective Local Transportation Spend Tracking:
  Monitor transportation costs at a granular level (fuel, tolls, driver wages, carrier costs, maintenance).
• Cost Control & Accountability:
  Collaborate with the Transportation Network Design team to align local expenses with cost-saving initiatives.
• Real-Time Updates for Samsara Route Management:
  Maintain Samsara routes with accurate, real-time GPS tracking and route optimization.
• Route Optimization:
  Adjust routes based on local conditions to minimize delays, reduce fuel consumption, and improve on-time delivery.
• Alignment with Network Goals:
  Bridge local operations with network strategies and provide feedback on challenges and opportunities.
• Local-Level Optimization:
  Address site-specific transportation needs and ensure efficient use of resources.
• Real-Time Problem Solving & Route Management:
  Respond to operational changes and support drivers with route resources.
• Data-Driven Insights:
  Collect and analyze transportation data, monitor KPIs, and provide actionable efficiency improvements.
• Cross-Site Consistency:
  Standardize route management and spend tracking across multiple sites and support scalable expansion.
• Collaboration & Compliance:
  Work with Fleet, Safety, and Operations to uphold safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
  Identify opportunities for process improvements and adopt new fleet management technologies.

• Experience:
  
  2-5 years in transportation, logistics, or fleet management with a focus on local transportation operations and route optimization.
• Analytical
  
  Skills:
  
  Strong data analysis and reporting abilities; experience with KPIs and cost metrics.
• Problem Solving:
  Ability to troubleshoot and resolve real-time operational issues.
• Communication:
  Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments and stakeholders.
• Attention to Detail:
  High accuracy in tracking spend, routes, and safety/compliance standards.

• Experience with Samsara or similar fleet management tools.
• Proficiency in GPS tracking systems and transportation management software.
• Knowledge of local transportation regulations and compliance standards.
• Ability to manage operations across multiple sites.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
