Adjunct Faculty (Visual Arts Printmaking, Color and Design, and Sculpture, Day)

Massasoit Community College takes pride in its long-standing tradition of excellence and its historic mission to welcome all who seek to learn. The College offers more than 60 associate degree and certificate programs across the arts, sciences, applied sciences, healthcare, and technology. In addition, Massasoit provides non-credit workforce development certificates, corporate training opportunities, adult basic education, and personal enrichment courses. Each year, the College welcomes a diverse body of new and returning students, including high school students seeking to earn college credit through dual enrollment partnerships.

More than half of Massasoit's students identify as students of color, and more than half are first generation to attend college. Approximately 700 students annually earn an associate degree or certificate, advancing their educational and career goals.

Located in Brockton, Massachusetts - a vibrant and diverse city of approximately 105,000 residents - Massasoit's main campus reflects and celebrates the community it serves. The College also operates a campus in Canton, a satellite location in Middleborough, and serves students from more than 45 cities and towns across southeastern Massachusetts.

Adjunct faculty teaching Visual Arts play a role in instruction, working with full-time faculty to teach a variety of Visual Arts courses including Printmaking, Color and Design, and Sculpture. Using recommendations from the Dean's office and the Visual Arts department chair, adjunct faculty develop and deliver course content using high-quality pedagogical techniques to ensure maximum student success and learning. Adjunct faculty, who choose, may involve themselves in other aspects of campus life such as coaching and mentoring students, participating on committees, attending department meetings, professional development seminars and college convocations, and working on various projects.

Responsibilities and Duties
:

• Prepare course syllabi that meets all contractual requirements.
• Schedule classes to meet for the allotted time on every scheduled meeting day during the semester.
• Employ effective instructional strategies that promote student learning.
• Use appropriate assessment tools to accurately measure student understanding of class subject matter.
• Monitor email communications from students and the college and respond in a timely manner.
• Provide availability outside of class to meet with and assist students.
• Meet all deadlines for submission of grades, student participation reports, student grievance responses, and other administrative documentation.

Additional Responsibilities
:

• Manage a level of flexibility that holds students accountable and recognizes the challenging work/school/life balance led by many students at Massasoit.
• Work collaboratively with divisional staff.
• Provide feedback on student progress to advisement and counseling.

Adjunct Faculty are part-time instructors hired on an as needed basis. Positions may consist of day, night, or weekend positions and may be in Brockton, Canton, Middleborough, or any other instructional site.

Printmaking instructor to teach the following
:
Relief, Monotype & Monoprint, Intaglio, Silkscreen and Printmaking Seminar

• Familiar with non-toxic methods
• Masters degree and two years teaching experience or experience in a professional printmaking studio.

Preferred:

• Experience with and understanding of the community college environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Capable of maintaining academic standards with empathy and honesty.
• Knowledge of and experience using effective pedagogical strategies.
• Three years of experience teaching in an educational setting.
