This position supports a specialized classroom serving students who are performing significantly below grade level and demonstrate emerging academic and functional skills. Students receive instruction aligned to their individual instructional levels through a modified curriculum designed to meet their unique learning needs.

The classroom operates within a highly structured environment that emphasizes consistent routines, visual supports, and clear expectations to foster student success and independence. Instruction is delivered primarily through small-group teaching, allowing for individualized support and targeted skill development.

The classroom typically serves approximately 12 students and is supported by two dedicated instructional aides, creating a collaborative team environment focused on meeting student needs and promoting meaningful progress.

• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with students' instructional levels and IEP goals.
• Implement and adapt modified curriculum and instructional materials to support diverse learning needs.
• Create and maintain a structured classroom environment using visual supports, routines, and positive behavior strategies.
• Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instruction based on student performance and growth.
• Collaborate with instructional aides, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Develop and implement IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications with fidelity.
• Foster students' academic, communication, social-emotional, and functional life skills.
• Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and required special education records.
• Promote student independence, engagement, and positive behavior through evidence-based instructional practices.
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities.

• Valid MDESE Special Education teaching license/certification for grades 5-12.
• Experience working with students with significant academic and developmental needs preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to establish consistent routines and expectations.
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction, behavior management strategies, and IEP implementation.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
